Johnstone’s Hill Tunnel ITS
ASL were chosen by the Northern Gateway Alliance to supply and install the key ITS components for the tunnel and its feeder motorway, included in this were twenty GSM emergency telephones, eighteen VoIP tunnel emergency telephones, eight heavy duty lane use signals incorporating fire and heat proof materials for tunnel operation and four large variable message signs with dual NTCIP and tunnel system control. In 2010 the Auckland Motorway Alliance took over the operation and maintenance of the tunnel with Armitage AMA staff managing and maintaining all tunnel operation systems including both ITS and fire protection.
