Auckland Motorway Alliance (AMA)

In 2007 the New Zealand Transport Agency decided to seek to form an Alliance of physical works and professional services companies that could manage, improve and maintain the Auckland Motorway Network. The winning team was Fulton Hogan, Opus, Beca, Resolve Group and Armitage forming the Auckland Motorway Alliance (AMA) with the NZTA. The AMA now publically known as Auckland Motorways is tasked with providing network maintenance and improvement from 2008 until 2018. Armitage have a team of professional engineers, technicians and electricians located at two sites – the main offices of the AMA at Greenlane and the 24 hour service response and maintenance team located at the old motorway network control centre (ATOMS) just north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. The AMA is a performance driven entity with strict performance thresholds that in turn reward achievement and punish sub-par performance. The AMA team have achieved a thirty percent increase in ITS equipment availability and ATMS functionality since taking over in October 2008, this monthly reviewed performance criteria measures faults and network access this rose from just over sixty percent to ninety nine percent by 2010.
