Auckland International Airport Fire Protection System

The Auckland International Airport is New Zealand’s largest public building and has been subject to a major overhaul and expansion to its facilities since 2006.

Involved in this development Armitage have carried out three large scale projects:

Armitage have been the incumbent maintenance provider for all fire alarm systems since 2007.

Project 3A

Pier B – For the new Airbus A380 Aeroplane including both the pier extension and the redevelopment of the entire first floor with upgrades to both land and airside arrivals and departures. Armitage have retained an onsite team upgrading, moving and installing fire protection systems as the physical makeup of the airport alters and grows, this has required work to be carried out in public areas under strict health and safety standards and restricted working periods.

In 2009 Armitage began upgrading the aging fire alarm system with an analogue addressable system providing a full graphics interface that controls both new and old fire systems side by side allowing the airport’s expansion to take place without delay or compromise. The system is the largest addressable analogue fire protection system in New Zealand.
