Armitage Fire

In 2019 the University of Auckland commissioned a new six-storey building in central Auckland’s busy Grafton Road to bring its School of Population Health and School of Medicine together conveniently positioned opposite Auckland Hospital. Designed to open in two stages enabling the University to utilise facilities with as little disruption as possible to its curriculum delivery, Armitage Fire were engaged by China-Hawkins to design and install the fire protection systems. Working collaboratively with the head contractor to tight deadlines and strict budget requirements, the Armitage team supplied, installed and commissioned the sprinkler system including diesel pumps, a dry pre-action sprinkler system including air compressor, an analogue addressable fire alarm system (including fire fan control panel), Emergency Warning & Communication System (EWIS) (including public address microphone and visual strobes) and fire extinguishers.

Armitage are proud to have been part of this large-scale, multi-storied and -faceted new build alongside local and international corporations. The second part of the project was successfully delivered and completed in January 2020 in time for the start of the new academic year.
